BALLOONING : Like a child's
fantasy come true, giant balloons billow out their
folds the sky in a colourful parade with balloonists
suspended on what looks Iike loosely hung baskets,
but what are actually firm platforms. Standing in
the basket is a delightful experience - it feels reassuringly
solid, just like standing in a floating balcony. The
basket carries 3 to 4 persons. When alone, balloonists
can rise to the heights of 2000 ft, while those in
groups may be restricted between 1000 to 2000 ft.
Be it the beautiful Taj Mahal, the Agra fort or the
deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, one gets a perfect
birds eye view. Wanderlust is the only Indian tour
organiser offering Balloon expeditions and tours commercially.
Parajumping and free fall parachuting are now being
offered to the dare devils from a balloon platform
for the first time. Exciting Rajasthan and Himachal
balloon safari tours combined with camel safaris with
overnight halts in palace hotels are currently the
exciting ingredients of an Indian Royal Rajputana
tour. Wanderlust is the only company in India offering
these unique tour combinations.
Best time : September to April.
