BIRD SANCTUARY :
4 hrs from Delhi - Known for its rare
Siberian crane and a variety of bird life.
Rickshaw, boat trips and walking tours
possible year round.Delhi or 3 hrs drive
from Jaipur. One of the best parks to
spot the tiger. Jeep safaris possible
October to April.
KANHA
AND BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK :
Accessible by over-night train or by air
via Khajuraho. Best park for spotting
the tiger. Elephant and Jeep safaris are
possible October to April.
GIR
LION SANCTUARY :
Accessible by road from Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The last home of the Asiatic lion. Excursions
to Nalsarovar bird sanctuary and the marine
national park. Jeep drives are possible
year round.
BANDIPUR,
NAGARHOLE AND MUDUMALAI SANCTUARY :
Accessible by road from Bangalore/Mysore.
Forests here are thicker and so wildlife
is more elusive. Jeep / van drives are
possible year round.
PERIYAR
TIGER RESERVE :
Accessible by road from Cochin. Lake and
marsh terrain. Known for its elephants.
Motor boat safaris are possible year round.
KAZIRANGA
NATIONAL PARK :
Accessible from Guwahati by road. Known
for its one horned rhinoceros and the
tiger. Jeep safaris are possible October
