Jaisalmer Destination

Jaisalmer Fort:
The Jaisalmer fort was built in 1156 by the Rajput ruler Jaisala, it also known as golden fort. It is second oldest fort in Rajasthan. It is the one of the marvels of Rajasthani architecture, particularly of the stone-carver’s art. One fourth of population is staying in the fort. The time to visit is 8 am to 6 pm in summer and 9 am to 6 pm in winter. The entry fees for Indian are Rs. 20 and for foreigner is Rs. 70, plus Rs. 50 for camera and Rs. 150 for video camera.

Patwa Ki Haveli:
The Patwa Ki Haveli is built by Gautam Chand Patwa and his five Jain brothers in between 1800 to 1860. It is one of the fabulous Haveli of Jaisalmer. The best feature of the Haveli is the carved jharokhas, or protruding balconies. The stone carving here far surpasses in beauty the work on brocade and gold. The time to visit is 9:30 am to 5 Pm, and entry fees are Rs. 20.

Salim Singh Ki Haveli:
The Salim Singh Haveli is 300 year old; it is Arabian Nights structure and worth seeing. This is built by Jaisalmer Prime Minister for Maharaja Rawal Gaj Singh-Salim Singh. It is the honor of Jaisalmer architecture. It has amazing, distinctive shape-narrow for the first floors; top storey spreads out into a mass of carving, with graceful arched balconies surmounted by pale blue cupolas. The time to visit is 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in winter, but in summer it open till 7:00 pm. Entry fee is Rs. 15 and plus Rs. 10 for camera and Rs. 50 for video camera.

Nathmal Ki Haveli:
The Haveli was built in 1885 for Diwan Mohata Nathmal. This was design by two Muslim brothers Hathi and Lulu. It has painting of 1.5 kg gold in first floor, and there is also picture of Queen Victoria. This Haveli is beautiful combination of Rajput and Islamic architecture. It is decorated with beautiful miniatures. The time to visit is 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Entry is free.

Sam Sand Dunes:
Sam sand dunes is 42 km away from Jaisalmer, it is 3 km long and 1 km wide desert. It is best to here at sunrise or sunset, and many camel safaris spend a night at the dunes. Camels can be hired easily and you may be able your favorite picture with a lone camel on a desert track and the setting sun in the backdrop. The February is the good month to visit the Sam Sand Dunes because it is the time of festival; it is full of fun, color and laughter, cultural events and competitions.

Khurri Sand Dunes:
The khurri Sand Dunes is 40 km from the Jaisalmer; it is near to Sam Sand Dunes. Here you the desert by jeep or camel, but will be best in the desert. It is beautiful village where the houses are made of claw and cow drug. The Desert National Park near the sand dunes, were you see black buck, chinkara, desert fox and great Indian bustard.

TOURIST PLACE OF JAISALMER
Gadi Sagar Lake:
Raja Rawal Jaisal, who was the first ruler of jaisalmer, built Gadi Sagar Lake in 1367. It was the only source of water in Jaisalmer at ancient period. Artistically carved chattris, Temples, Shrines, and Ghats surround the banks of Gadi Sagar Lake. See rare migratory birds that stop for a drink at the lustrous Gadi Sagar Lake that reflects the mellow yellow of the picturesque sandstone banks; see the yellow sandstone banks change hues of ochre with the setting sun. Boating costs Rs 10 to Rs. 100 for 30 minutes. Time to visit is 8 am to 9 pm.

Bada Bagh:
Bada bagh means “big garden”. Maharaja Jai Singh II builds it. It is several royal cenotaphs (chhatris), with beautifully carved ceiling and statues of parts rulers along with their wife, surrounded by thick trees. Domed roofs shade small marble and statues. The green Sanctuary below is where most of the fruit and vegetables of the region used to be grown – a strange sight in the middle of the sand and scrub. The Entry fee is Rs 20 and plus Rs. 20 for camera.

Lodurva:
Lodurva is ancient capital of Bhati. It is famous of Jain temple, some of them rebuilt in 1970s. There are several buses to Lodurva daily, but taxi is more preferably comfort it include Amar Sagar and Bada Bagh at the rate of Rs. 300.
