Founded by the Maharaja Udai Singh II in 1568 after his castle (Fort) Chittorgarh was fire by Mughal Emperor Akbar. When Rajputs were thrown out from their capital, that time King Udai Singh built his palace beside the Pichola Lake & moves their. He built a small temple Dhunj Mata, to mark the spot which is now old part of city.
It’s known as the city of Lakes. Udaipur is also well known for centre for present arts, crafts, paintings.
Sight seen details in Udaipur Lake Palace or Jagat niwas It’s a palace in the middle of Lake, summer residence of the princes of Mewar. It’s also known as Jagat Niwas because built by Maharaja Jagat Singh. The interior of palace is built with white marble & decorated with paintings. Now it’s a five star hotel. The rooms are decorated with cusped arches, inland stones of pink and green lotus leaves and painted mirrors. Sahelion ki Badi Sahelion Ki Badi is a famous Garden lies just below the Fateh Sagar Lake. Maharana Sangram Singh II designed this Garden. It’s also known Garden was presented as peace offering from the Emperor of Delhi. In the around Garden four ornamental pools & five fountains & marble elephant are there for entertained, fountain was import from England. The Garden has a lotus pool, a sitting room decorated with paintings. Fountain protected by a series of walls & trees. Jagdish Temple Jagdish temple is belonging to Lord Jagannath, sign of Vishnu. It’s a largest & most beautiful temple of Udaipur with shape images. The exterior wall contains friezes with bas relief of alligators, elephants, riders & musicians. A remarkable brass image of Garuda is in the front of temple. City Palace It’s situated on the bank of Lake Pichola. It’s was built with granite and marble. City palace is a royal compound in Rajasthan. A grand architectural marvel towering above the lake on the hill surrounded by crenellated walls, it’s a collection of pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and gardens. The main entrance is through the triple domed gates. We can enter through two great gates, Bari Pol & Tripolia Pol. The Maharana used to be weighed, the comparable in the gold then being circulated in among the population. Sajjangarh Namesake Maharana Sajjan Singh built the Sajjangarh palace in 1874. It is also known as Monsoon Palace. It is 5 km from Udaipur, 3100 feet above from sea level. The fort was built as observatory to watch the progress of the monsoon clouds over the surrounding areas. We can have beautiful view of Lake of Udaipur and Aravali hill ranges. There is ancient Shiv Temple. Maharana Raj Singh constructed Tiger Lake in 1664 AD., the lake covers an area of 1.25 Sq miles and can store around 400 million cubic feet of water. Near the Sajjangadh Palace there is Sajjangarh wildlife sanctuary.
